When a pet does get unfortunately euthanized, how do you navigate and take care of yourself in such an emotionally charged situation? What was it like to start a new career in a new city at the beginning of the Pandemic?

In this episode, Xylia Serafy tells her story of as an animal caregiver and Veterinary Technician. Serafy talks about her initial experiences working with wildlife animals on Long Island, but then explains how her work got more complicated and chaotic as she began to help take care of people's pets at the beginning of Covid-19. Serafy goes out of her way to explain to all of you that this field is not playing with cats and dogs all day; rather, it is a field that really stresses the limits of veterinary workers as they try to balance the business needs of running a veterinary clinic with doing everything that they can to take care of their pet patients. Serafy ultimately describes what you'll need to be able to do emotionally to be in this field for the long-run and how you can best support the people who take care of your pets!
