Episode 49 May is National Foster Care Month, along with National Mental Health Awareness Month so in this episode Coach Kelly Marie teams up with the founder of Fostering Greatness to share an incredible story of heartbreak and triumph in New York's Foster Care System.
About the Guest
Leah Angel Daniel is an educator, writer, visionary, author, inspirational speaker and mentor who is the living epitome of the phrase, “I don't look like what I have been through.” Leah was thrown into New York's foster care system at age 11 and stayed there until adulthood. She currently serves as the Institute Administrator at the University at Buffalo for the Community Health Equity Research Institute and is pursuing a doctoral degree at Saint John Fisher College.
As a former foster care youth, Leah was called to create Fostering Greatness Inc, a 501c3 whose mission is to welcome foster care alumni into a space that supports them in fostering their greatness and exceed the low expectations that society has placed upon them. Located in Western New York, Fostering Greatness assists transitioning foster care youth with life skills, housing stability, education, personal and professional development through access, opportunities and community support.
