Ptsd, or post-traumaticPTSD stress disorder, has been taken by what you might call pop psychology, and it's used often inaccurately. It wasn't until 1980 that at least the dsm came out with a diagnosis that they called ptsd. The va got the ball rolling, and I believe it was about the soldiers coming back from Vietnam. The diagnosis, like the DSM, doesn't recognize complex PTSD.
