Ever wondered what the point of fasting is? If you don't know why you're doing it, then you probably shouldn't be doing it. And I would say that's true of any spiritual thing. I've heard far too many Christians tell me that they have done a fast with their church, but didn't benefit from it. They hated every minute of it. They were hangry. They were mad. And the only results that they found from that fast was they were mean to people. Is that really why God would want us to fast … to be mean to people? I don't think so. I don't think that that works for me. So I want to know why I'm fasting and it should make me a better person. It should make me a better follower of Christ in some capacity. You have to know why you're doing spiritual things to receive benefits from them. Fasting isn't to change God or change His mind or to make God do anything actually. Fasting is supposed to change us. There's many reasons to fast, but I like to talk about 6 of them. We would fast for our mind, our will, our emotions, our body, approval from others, and for a breakthrough.
