When I was diagnosed with depression, it was an "ah-ha" moment for me. It made total sense (in hindsight). And truthfully, it was nice to "name" the struggle that had eluded me and several doctors for quite some time. It also made total sense to me at the time to start taking the medication that was prescribed to me for depression. I thought the point of medicine was to get us better, so I didn't question it until well over 6 years of taking it. One day I came to myself (God entered the equation) and I started to wonder WHY I was depressed in the first place. Listen, I'm not opposed to doctors or therapy! Please hear me. But I'm FOR finding the root causes behind our feelings. If you've found a therapy that makes you feel better body, soul, & spirit completely, that's the goal!
