Listen "Follow Me - The Call to Discipleship"
Episode Synopsis
In this message we explore Jesus’ call to true discipleship—what it meant for the first disciples, and what it still means for us today.
We begin by looking at Matthew 4:18–22, where Jesus personally calls Peter, Andrew, James, and John. Their response reminds us that discipleship is always personal and always initiated by Jesus Himself.
We then look at the reality that following Jesus requires leaving something behind. Luke 9:23 and Matthew 16:25 show that discipleship isn’t part-time or casual; it’s a daily surrender of our own desires in order to follow Him.
From there, we see that Jesus doesn’t just call us—He transforms us. Matthew 4:19 and Romans 12:1–2 reveal that following Jesus leads to a renewed mind, a changed life, and a new purpose. He turns ordinary people into world-changers.
Finally, we wrestle with the cost and the reward. In Mark 10:28–30, Jesus promises that anything we lay down for Him is never wasted. And in John 14:6, He reminds us that He alone is the way to true life.
We end where Jesus ended—with a mission. Matthew 28:19 calls every believer to go and make disciples.
