Listen "The Servant of All"
Episode Synopsis
This week I want to talk about being a servant and servanthood. Somehow this seems like it has become a topic that no one mentions in our modern churches. We live in a world that is very selfish at its heart. It encourages us to be the best, to be number one, to step on anyone or anything in our way to get to our objective or promote ourselves at others’ expense. As followers of Christ, our worldview is not dictated to BY the world, but always through the lens of Scripture. His ways are higher and not the world’s ways. He calls us to serve.
In Mark 9:35, Jesus is speaking and says this to the 12; Sitting down, He called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
Here’s what the Greek definition is (doulos): one who gives himself up to another's will; those whose service is used by Christ in extending and advancing His cause among men;
devoted to another to the disregard of one's own interests.
