We had taken the grandkids for a ‘walk’ the other day. I say walk, because at 3 and 2 years old, it became a ‘carry’ much more than a ‘walk'. When the going got tough, or they got tired, they wanted us to pick them up and carry them. It was a piggyback at times and the entire walk was mostly us trading off carrying them. We were discussing the reality of carrying someone. When you carry them, you bear the weight of their being. You walk a little more carefully. You find your steps a bit more laboured. Your body hurts as their weight begins to compound on yours. 
This is what Jesus does for us. He Himself lifts us up. He bears the weight and pain in His body. Our love for our grandkids was given with every step. We didn’t set them down and leave them. Who would do that? We can sometimes make the error of thinking that God would leave us, when the truth is that He said He would NEVER LEAVE us nor FORSAKE us. It is a comfort to know that when we feel like we can’t go on, He Himself carries us, our burdens and our pain. He does that for US because He loves us.
