Listen "Uber ($UBER) and BYD Partner to Accelerate Global EV Transition"
Episode Synopsis
Uber (NYSE: UBER), a technology transport company focused on making urban transportation more sustainable, and BYD have announced a multi-year partnership to introduce 100,000 BYD electric vehicles to the Uber platform in key global markets.
As leaders in their fields, Uber and BYD aim to reduce EV ownership costs for Uber drivers, promoting EV adoption and providing millions of riders with greener transport options. Uber drivers are transitioning to EVs faster than private car owners, but cost and financing remain barriers. BYD vehicles are affordable, low-maintenance, and ideal for ridesharing due to their performance and quality.
The partnership will also explore discounts on charging, maintenance, insurance, financing, and leasing to support drivers.
Additionally, Uber and BYD will collaborate on deploying BYD's autonomous-capable vehicles on the Uber platform, leveraging Uber's global reach to advance autonomous vehicle technology.
Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber stated: “As the largest global agreement of its kind, we’re thrilled about the benefits this partnership will deliver for drivers, riders, and cities.”
With over 49 billion trips, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities by changing how people, food, and things move through cities.
