What is modern about loss? Human beings have been experiencing loss for as long as there have been human beings. But there is a movement going on right now that seeks to open up the conversation about grief, to create communities of people that support each other through their hardest times. As we engage on social media and through the internet the world becomes smaller and smaller and our ability to connect with other people and share our losses becomes more accessible. Modern Loss, the platform that Rebecca Soffer and Gabrielle Birkner created after their own losses, gives voice to the change. The book, Modern Loss, which evolved from this community tells the stories of those who came to find each other and support each other and stayed because grief and loss weave through our lives forever.
