Listen "Offshoots: Flickering Flames"
Episode Synopsis
Sunday night, I was invited to preach at Ekklesia in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. We celebrated Epiphany and I shared my thoughts on the first five verses of the Gospel of John. I’m going to share them with y’all here today. And, if you happen to have been in the room on Sunday night at Ekklesia, I went back a filled in a hole in the middle after talking about this sermon with my wife. I’d jokingly suggested to the church’s band leader that they play the Stranger Things theme song since it felt appropriate for talking about light and dark and the presence of good in the midst of dark moments, and Elizabeth reminded me of a way light leads the kids in Hawkins forward. That’s enough there. No spoilers from the end of Stranger Things is you haven’t finished it yet. Just musings on God’s goodness and presence.
