Listen "Measure Life With Spiritual Richness"

Episode Synopsis

“I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” - John 10:10b Having lots of material possessions does not guarantee a satisfying life. Measuring life by the amount of material wealth will leave an empty and dissatisfied heart. Nothing is wrong with having money and material things but measuring life with them will open a door for persistent pressures, insecurities, temptation, grief, and sadness.  Most believers in Christ then did not come from the privileged classes. They understand the abundant life in Jesus does not consist of an abundance of material things. As the Lord taught them in Matthew 12:15, “Life is not measured by how much you own” but instead by the abundance of spiritual life that He promised in John 10:10b. D. L. Moody told the story of a shop-girl in Chicago; one day, she could not have bought a dollar's worth of anything; the next day, she could buy a thousand dollars worth of anything she wanted. What made the difference? She married a rich husband. She had accepted him, and, of course, all he had become hers. Spiritually, all that Christ has become ours when we receive Him as Lord and Saviour. In Jesus, we are spiritually rich. Measure life not by material wealth but by the abundance of spiritual life in Jesus. Your worthdepends not on what you have that can disappear instantly but on who you are by faith in Christ—you are God's child. You are entitled to abundant love, peace, joy, kindness, goodness, and contentment to a satisfied and happier life regardless of what you have and the length of your life. Material prosperity is a temporal blessing, but who you have and what you have in Jesus are permanent and eternal, leaving you secured.  May you measure life with spiritual richness in Jesus. Amen.
