Live an Honorable Life

Listen "Live an Honorable Life"

Episode Synopsis

Today’s devotion is from Matthew 20:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.” God’s perfect standard for an honorable life is a life patterned to Christ. The disciples follow His teachings, example, and mandate to help others do the same. This is called discipleship, the process of helping someone become like Jesus. We represent Christ's holy Name like the original disciples (minus Judas). So, consistent obedience to His word and respect for godly discipline must be a distinguishing mark of our thoughts, speech, and actions.  When hurt, we don't think evil but forgive just as God forgave us in Christ. When mistreated, we do not pay back wrong for wrong. Instead, we pray and bless the maltreater. When promoted, we remain humble and are more willing to associate with people of low position. We overcome evil with good, just as Christ overcame the world. And then we teach other believers to do the same. We pattern our life to Jesus first before we help others follow the same mold that results in an honorable life. In followership to Christ, think of constant inward change, not sinlessness, for effectiveness in helping others do the same. David Platt said it well, “Making disciples of Jesus is the overflow of the delight in being disciples of Jesus.” May you follow Christ to live an honorable life in God’s sight and help others do the same.Amen.
