Listen "A Call to Commitment"

Episode Synopsis

Ruth 1:16 (NIV) - “But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.’”The book of Ruth begins with tragedy—famine, loss, and uncertainty. Naomi lost her husband and sons, and she felt abandoned by God. She even told people to call her "Mara," meaning "bitter" (Ruth 1:20). Yet, in the midst of her sorrow, Ruth made a life-changing decision: she chose to stay with Naomi, not out of obligation, but out of love and commitment.Ruth’s commitment was not just to Naomi but to Naomi’s God. She left behind her homeland, her past, and her false gods to follow the true and living God. Her decision shows us that faith is not just about believing—it’s about committing our lives fully to God, even when the future is uncertain. Many people today struggle with commitment—whether in relationships, faith, or even church involvement. The world promotes convenience, but God calls us to commitment. Just as Ruth remained steadfast, God desires our unwavering devotion to Him. Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters" (Matthew 6:24). We must choose to follow Him wholeheartedly, no matter the cost. Are you fully committed to Christ? Are you willing to trust Him even when life is uncertain? Ruth’s faith reminds us that God blesses those who seek Him with all their hearts (Jeremiah 29:13).Prayer:Lord, help me to be committed to You, just as Ruth was. Strengthen my faith when I feel uncertain. Teach me to trust Your plans and follow You wholeheartedly. May my love for You be unwavering, no matter what challenges I face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
