Ashley comes to Get Real on sobriety, eating disorders, the restaurant industry, identity, PMDD, exercise, relapse, recovery, support systems, community, & more! Ashley is a renowned chef in New York City and speaks on addiction within the restaurant industry and her personal struggle leading up to drinking at least a bottle of vodka throughout her work day. She was experiencing several painful symptoms from pancreatitis to severe withdrawals. Now that she has made it to the other side, Ashley is vocal about her past so that it can help anyone else in her field or life that is currently where she once was or prevent them from going down that path. She opens up on eating disorders and the difference in the two recoveries sharing “with eating disorders you can not escape yourself”, but does explain with alcohol there is a way to avoid being near it. She touches on how running has immensely helped her and the rocky road of learning to properly fuel while recovering from an ED.She also touches on PMDD, which is when women are experience severe depression the week before their period far surpassing “PMS” and can even result in vivid su*cidal ideations. We close speaking on the importance of community and building a strong sober network and the positive effect that that can have on your recovery.
