Episode Synopsis
This is my little mini-tribute to legendary radio personality/DJ/Spoken Word Artist WILLIAM ROSCOE MERCER.
Anyone listening to WNEW in the 70's, or (more importantly) DISCO 92-WKTU from 1978-1985 will immediately recognize that velvety-smooth voice of his.
I have lots of fond memories of listening to Rosko (and the other dj's) on WKTU in the early 80's, discovering all that amazing music! (yes, radio actually played GOOD music back then!!)
My wife actually met Rosko a few months before he passed, as she is friends with his (now) widow. She granted me access to his tapes, which nobody else has copies of (to my knowledge).
These tapes are what I used to put together this track. All of the recordings I used were from 1985...most likely recorded on the radio (WKTU) the same day he resigned on the air.
I actually used that resignation portion for the outro of the track. If you'd like to hear that, you will have to download the song!
