“In the Still of the Night,” the Satins’ best-known hit, was recorded in 1956 in the basement of St. Bernadette’s Church in New Haven. The song was recorded in the basement of Saint Bernadette Catholic School, a church school in the group’s neighborhood. The song was first released on the Standord label, and later by Ember.
