Episode Synopsis

On this edition of Free City Radio we hear from Indigenous filmmaker Nicolas Renaud critiques Quebec government push to expand corporate clearcutting in Quebec. This discussion focuses specifically on the proposed Bill 97 that will move approximately 1/3 of Quebec's actual territory into what has been described by the right wing government as a 'special economic zone,' which will remove all regulations around both Indigenous land rights and environmental regulations. Indigenous communities have been on the frontlines protesting this bill and the broader colonialist approach to Quebec's remaining forested lands.
