Ya'akov, aka ISRAEL is dying at his bed and beside him are the 12 sons and his grandsons.  He switches the blessings on his grandsons like he switched birthrights and blessings with his brother Esav and elevates his grandsons to full tribes under him, essentially displacing Yosef.  Connected to this in the Prophets/Nevi'im portion, the haftarah, is the death of David Melech, but NOT before he passes on commands and wisdom and explanations to Shlomo, his son who was called to succeed him.
We find out about prophetic insights into David's reign from Hevron for 7 years and the passing of the Messianic Torch to Shlomo and how they prophetically forecast things Yeshua did in the Gospels and will do in the future Redemption and at the inauguration of the Messianic Age, the Olam HaBa!
