Listen "Change your direction, not your decision"
Episode Synopsis
When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there.
The vision of a food secure state drives the Food Bank Council of Michigan [FBCM] and our 7 Feeding America food banks’ purpose, mission, and goals. One of the ways that FBCM and our network strive to accomplish this is through resource management, including reducing food waste.
Did you know 72 BILLION pounds of food is wasted annually in the United States? This costs us $218 BILLION yearly [yes, with a ‘B’] and accounts for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. If food waste were a country, it would be the 3rd highest emitter of greenhouse gasses after the United States and China. We MUST do better.
Tune in for Food First Michigan on WJR Radio this Saturday at 11:00 PM and / or Sunday at 9:00 PM. to hear from our fervent guest, Rachel Hurst, corporate affairs manager and spokesperson for Kroger Co.
