The past year has been extremely challenging for students, educators and parents as we reentered 'normal' school following two years of pandemic disruptions. This month we are putting together a series of shows on Education focusing on Post-Pandemic schooling, mental health in our schools, schools 'safety', student experiences and so much more.
Today we dig in to what has become a hot button issue in our current political climate: school standards. Minnesota is currently on the tail end of there once a decade review and update of the K-12 Social Studies Standards and is just beginning there review of Math Standards. We take a look at the process so far as well as some excellent discussion of the purpose, efficacy and potential pitfalls of 'standardized' education.
