Jesus says this to his disciples in the context of James and John asking for seats of honor in His kingdom.  "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45 Every martyr dies better than Jesus, because no one else who gives their life for the gospel, has to drink the cup of God's wrath.
