Listen "Pippen Dunks on Ewing with Ben Osborne"
Episode Synopsis
In 1993, Scottie Pippen became the leader for the Chicago Bulls after Michael Jordan shocked the basketball world and announced his "retirement". During that season, the Robin to MJ's Batman had one of his best statistical seasons with career highs in points per game and steals per game leading the Bulls to 55 wins. In the playoffs, Pippen led the Bulls to the semi-finals against the Patrick Ewing led New York Knicks and in a win or go-home situation in Game 6, demolishing Ewing with one of the most savage dunks in NBA history. Ben Osborne, writer and former editor-in-chief of SLAM Magazine, breaks down this iconic dunk, how basketball has shaped culture, and the precarious relationship between the media and athletes.
