Where Does Our Anxiety Come From - Modelling

Listen "Where Does Our Anxiety Come From - Modelling"

Episode Synopsis

Where does our anxiety come from? In the final episode of this three-part series, Dawn looks at what is called modelling. As children we copy the people around us and this continues into adulthood. We are born to learn from others for survival and this is why we ‘copy’ or ‘model’. Modelling has the same effect on our subconscious mind as beliefs and experiences, listen in to this episode to find out why and how we can learn to leave anxiety behind and become who we are supposed to be.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
If you can recognise the negative behaviours you model, either from childhood or society, you can then take steps to change.
Many of us model behaviours because it allows us to feel part of something and creates a sense of order, especially in regards to social rules and institutions. We blindly accept as children and into adulthood that this is how life is lived. In some areas this can be beneficial but in others it can begin to cause detrimental behaviour, it can be limiting, create conflicts within ourselves and cause anxiety.
We innately want to please, belong and feel worthy and this can cause us to make decisions and life choices that eventually turn out to be wrong, causing a lot of turmoil and anxiety along the way.
Anxiety often shows up when we aren’t living in alignment with ourselves, whether that is consciously or subconsciously.
