Ali and Mary talk about photography and travel and loss and finding unexpected treasures in life when we dare to explore.About the Guest:Mary Homer grew up in  "Small Town", British Columbia.  The only daughter of immigrant parents that arrived in Canada following WWII (with only one suitcase per person and a few scarce dollars in their pockets) with their small son in tow.   Mary was the first (and only) Canadian born in her immediate family; arriving on the scene many years later.  She adored her much older brother.  Basically she was raised in a family of adults and as such was very much overprotected as a child.  As a result Mary learned to relate to adults easier than to other children.  Mary always found those older than her to be much more interesting than her peers.  They had such interesting stories and experiences to share.    Mary was exposed to international travel by her parents at the age of six.  No, they were not rich but they would skimp and save for years to travel to Europe to visit family.  As a result Mary gained her love of travel.   These early travel experiences removed any fear of venturing to new places.  After graduating high school, she used her fearlessness to move to Victoria BC on her own, not knowing anyone in the city; putting herself through post-secondary education.  She arrived with one suitcase and a box (containing her stereo . . .it was the 70's) and some hard earned dollars in her bank account.  For the majority of her working career,  Mary  worked in a professional (and very much non-creative) environment for 43 years.  Through her experiences of personal loss she gained the creativity that fuels her joy.  Mary will share with us the process that took place for her and how we can perhaps learn to recognize opportunity for finding joy in our lives. Check us out on apple and please give an honest review and I would love it if you would follow me.https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/find-your-joy/id1665240252You can also find us on your favourite podcast app.https://find-your-joy.captivate.fm/listenhttps://podcasters.amazon.com/https://feeds.captivate.fm/find-your-joy/or on Youtube: youtube.com/@aliwayart7385Thanks for listening!Thanks so much for listening to our podcast!
