Listen "Angharad Binder - Forging the Way for Females in Farming"
Episode Synopsis
Today we have Angharad Binder. She grew up on our family farm in Suffolk which is a mixed farm with a farm shop and farm trail. She decided not to go into this directly and trained as a children's nurse. In September 2024, she left this for her role within the Farming Community Network. This fits in well around her two young children and she is FCN & Macmillan Programme officer for the South East. It's a project she is passionate about, as her Dad, a farmer, is living with cancer, and they are all learning to adjust to this and planning ahead in terms of succession. Getting the message out to catch symptoms early is such an important one. Outside of work, she is also Show Director for this year's Hadleigh Show, an agricultural show on Saturday 17th May, attended by around 15,000 visitors. It's a voluntary role, in which you are chosen, so it is a real privilege, yet a huge amount of work! She is only the 2nd female Show Director in its 186-year history. https://www.hadleighshow.co.uk/
