Why study this ancient tent? What does knowing the Tabernacle have to do with our faith on this side of the cross? Everything. From Creation, God's desire was to dwell in the midst of His people. In the middle of the wilderness, God gives Moses a way for God Himself to dwell in the midst of His people: the Tabernacle. This tent is not merely ritual or history or good information. It's essential to understanding our salvation. Our detailed and deliberate God gave us the Tabernacle because one day, He would give us Jesus.This week further lays the foundation for the study of the Tabernacle focusing on the purpose of this Holy Tent and how the people were able to build such a beautiful sanctuary for God in the middle of the desert. In this passage, it's easy to be wowed by the people: the talents and the gifts that they so generously bring, but in our God-centered study of Scripture, we should ask: What God would elicit this kind of response? Who is this God that they would so generously serve?
