In this podcast, Erin Warren teaches through Exodus 16-17 (The Manna, Water from the Rock, Defeat of the Amalekites). The miraculous bread from heaven was not only provision to fill their empty stomachs, but a picture that points us to the True Bread that would one day come from Heaven, not for our earthly sustainment, but our eternal satisfaction. This passage also establishes the Sabbath, a day of rest that would set apart His people from world and an act of trust in God's character. As the Israelites come to Rephidim, they are once again thirsty and God meets their need on the Mountain of God despite their testing of Him. As Moses strikes the rock, water flows and reminds the people that their God has not left them. While there, the Amalekites (descendants of Esau) come to fight. Joshua and the Israelites prevail as long as Moses' arms are raised. With the help of Aaron and Hur, his arms remain raised bringing victory to the Israelites.
