Your past should be a point of reference not a prison. We always need something to reference what it was like so that we don’t allow ourselves to go back to what didn’t serve us in the first place! What "was", is not an indicator of what "is" or what "could" be. Life is lived forward but understood backwards. John 16:33 says “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
