This Sunday we are talking about the initial battles in the conquest of the promised land and the amazing account of the walls of Jericho coming down. But we are also going to be talking about Rahab. One of the things about Rahab’s story is that it is completely unessential to the storyline which ‘reads better’ without it. If we skipped chapter 2 and went right from chapter 1 to chapter 3, the logical progression of the story of the entrance into the land would flow rather nicely.

So, why is the story of Rahab there? Because it is a wonderful story of the salvation of a Gentile sinner saved by grace through faith.
