At FaithPoint Church Cape Town, Pastor Jay Makopo shared a sobering message titled “Christ Is Not Convenient.” Anchored in Mark 10:17–31, he reminded us that following Jesus will challenge our comfort. Like the rich young ruler, many want eternal life but resist the surrender that discipleship requires. We cannot customise Christ to suit our preferences. Picking up your cross is hard, because it demands dying to self and choosing conviction over convenience. Yet this is the true call of Jesus.

Jesus looked at the man and loved him, yet still called him to sacrifice. The same love calls us higher today. Walking with Christ may not be convenient, but it is the only path that leads to life.
