James 4:13-15 speaks of three things that have been going through my mind a lot the last ten days:
God’s Sovereignty: Acknowledgement of God's control over our plans and future ("If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that").
It speaks of Human Depravity: The presumption of making plans without recognizing God's sovereignty reflects human pride and self-sufficiency.
And it speaks of the concept of the Fragility of Life: The metaphor of life as a vapor highlights its fleeting nature and uncertainty ("For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away").
These truths reveal the grandeur of God's reign, the depths of our fallen state, and the fleeting nature of our earthly existence.
God spared our former president's life, miraculously spared his life – I don’t think you can argue against that statement. But just as God still has something He wants from the life of our former president - God still has something for each and every one of us:
He still has plans for our lives.
He has things He wants us to do for Him.
He has a perfect will for our life that He still wants done.
