Episode Synopsis

A little later than planned, this month we talk to the inspirational Professor Shahina Pardhan - the first female Professor of Optometry in the UK. Professor Pardhan talks to Martin and guest host, Dr Susan Blakeney FCOptom, about her experience, the obstacles she faced in her own career and what can be done to remove those barriers for future generations.
Professor Pardhan edited this month's special issue of Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics (OPO), which celebrates some of the leading female vision scientists worldwide and is dedicated to Professor Dame Ida Caroline Mann. Professor Ida Mann was a distinguished ophthalmologist recognised for her work on embryology and development of the eye, as well as genetic and social influences on eye diseases.
