St. John's kicked off the Charleston Classic with a nail bitter of a win over North Texas 53-52. After a hot start, the Johnnies offense hit a brick wall and it took great team defense and some late Joel Soriano free throws to win. Next up for the Red Storm was the Dayton Flyers which started out much better for St. John's, things went well in the first half, and then it all fell apart in the 2nd half mainly because of the fouls, and poor defense.
