As we look at this new section that encompasses Ephesians 5:22-33, we see that this is just the start of a larger section that is about "living in submission to one another." We will see over the course of the next several episodes that Paul will address three relationships where the stress is most likely to occur and where it is most important that we treat them biblically. First, in this section - Marriage. Then, family. Finally, in the workplace. 
Therefore, as we begin to look at the marriage relationship and the topic of living in submission to one another, we see that Marriage relationships must reflect God’s Purpose in every aspect. In vv. 22-24 we see that 1) THE WIFE’S ROLE IN MARRIAGE IS TO PICTURE THE ORDER OF CREATION. Under this, we see specifically in v. 22 that a) The wife places herself under her husband, because that is where God placed her.
