In 2 Peter 1:16-21 we see that Christians must always appeal to the proper authority when declaring Gospel! In the first part of verse 16 we saw that 1) OTHER SOURCES WOULD CLAIM TO HAVE AUTHORITY. Then, we saw that 2) SOME PEOPLE SPEAK THE TRUTH ABOUT CERTAIN EVENTS. The one thing that we didn't get to cover in the previous episode was the fact that c) Eyewitness accounts bear some authority (but not final or ultimate). So we start off the discussion on this last sub-point.
Then, in vv 19-21 we see 3) PROPER AUTHORITY LIES WITH THE WORD OF GOD. Under this point we discuss a) All believers have access to this authority; and b) All believers need to hold to this authority.
