Listen "Living for Heaven EP. 132"
Episode Synopsis
If you are looking for a sermon that will inspire you to live a more spiritual life, you might want to skip this one. I’m not interested in impressing you with his website, radio program, or newspaper article. I’m not even interested in telling you how great my congregation is, although I do give them many compliments. I’m only interested in one thing: seeking God.
I base my message on several passages from the Bible, especially 1 Corinthians 1:26-31, where Paul reminds the Christians in Corinth that God chose the foolish, weak, base, and despised things of the world to shame the wise, mighty, noble, and esteemed. I believe this means we should not seek worldly success, fame, or wealth, but rather focus on doing the will of God, which is our duty as His servants.
I do give examples of what doing the will of God looks like. It is not doing spectacular deeds that make people applaud, but rather doing the mundane, daily activities of life with a view to heaven and pleasing God. It is raising children in the faith, helping the needy, teaching the gospel, inviting someone to a gospel meeting. It is also having faith in God and believing that He rewards those who diligently seek Him.
I conclude by challenging you to plan your life around seeking God, not around earthly things. I ask you to look beyond the tombstone and imagine what you see in your future: eternal heaven or eternal hell. I invite you to change your life and seek God.
