Listen "Voting is Public Health - Local Elections"
Episode Synopsis
Voting is important. The spirit of public health is the health of everyone, the entire population, and therefore it is imperative that everyone gets to vote. When we typically think of voting, we think about the big ticket positions like the president, US Senators or US Representatives. But when it comes to the laws and policies that actually have the most impact on our lives, they pertain to a whole separate area of voting that often flies under the radar. Local elections have the most intimate and proximal impact on our daily lives and our health. This episode discusses not just why voting matters, but why voting in local election is so much more important than most people may believe. P.S. When we recorded this, Florida was still oblivious for the COVID surge that is happening right now. By the time this is released, we can see the consequences of the Florida governor in full swing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/08/09/when-it-comes-new-coronavirus-surge-florida-is-an-obvious-outlier/?utm_campaign=wp_main&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook&fbclid=IwAR2VFjhSdYINvbS00XJtn4isXTmd9M_3LnyUWn5Ifm5f8jE_uOngWRkkPWAP.P.S To the 7 people who heard the editing error when this episode launched, apologies and it was been fixed now! -o-Twitter: https://twitter.com/EverythingisPHPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/everythingispublichealth Email: [email protected] Support the show
