When I met Phil Coke, Detroit Tigers pitcher who earned played a pivotal roll in sending the Tigers to the World Series last year, it was at a Tigers game last year as he was signing autographs for fans. Phil told me about is Uncle Billy and Auntie Theresa, residents of the Big Island for 30 years and the reason he loves coming to the Big Island. . He said call them. So I did. I enjoyed our talk story about Phil, baseball and his ohana. Go Tigers!!! Go Phil.They share some fun stories about Phil working on his pitching at Makaeo Old Airport baseball field at our community park when he visits and loves interacting with the youth sports teams at the park. They talk about being Phil evolving from little league, and through all the levels of baseball before signing with the New York Yankees and now with the Detroit Tigers. Phil got married at Mauna Kea Resort, here on the Big Island.. Also guests this week are Jeff and Holly Coakley, 808 Mx/ATV Association.
