Listen "The "Should" Trigger"
Episode Synopsis
“I Should…”What feelings come up for you when you think this thought? On the surface thinking “I should ” seem harmless, even useful. But the truth is, for some people it is a sneaky triggering thought that only pretends to be helpful and can pack quite a punch. For me, thinking “I should…”,triggers feelings of guilt, anxiety, shame, self-criticism, comparison, and judgment. I mistakenly think this little thought will motivate me into doing something. But the reality is, it doesn’t, and sometimes thinking “I should…” prevents me from getting anything done. In today's episode, we are going to examine this word, “Should”, and look at the various meanings we give to it. We will discuss why it can create anxious feelings, and then I will give you four tools that will help you look at this triggering word differently. You won’t want to miss it!To connect with Angela AdamsShoot me an email: [email protected]
