It's a question on a lot of people's minds, and the answer depends on understanding the system and its future. We'll explain today on Elevate Wealth. Hey there, I'm Deanne Rosso, president and CEO of Elevate Wealth Advisory. And today we're diving into the future of Social Security with our director of operations and wealth adviser, Brian Rosso. So Brian, what do people need to know about the future of Social Security and how it affects their retirement? Deanne, that's a a really common and important topic I think is on a lot of people's mind today. There's many Americans that are concerned that Social Security may not be around when they retire. And really, with all the headlines out today about potential funding issues in the future, I think people are concerned that it was just going to disappear. And that's simply not the case, in our opinion. Yeah, I hesitate to say fake news, but I do think that it incites anxiety when there's not any need for it. Right, there's a lot of research to show that even over the next 10 years, by 2035, Social Security will still be able to pay out 80% of the promised benefits. Yeah. And I mean, I think reform is needed, right? Like in order to maybe pay more than 80% of benefits in the future but I don't think any current retirees or those probably within the next 15-20 years need to worry about it. Right, and I mean, I think the key point that people should take away is Social Security will be there, it may look slightly different than it does today, but I think that even puts even more emphasis on thinking and planning for that today to make sure that you're maximizing your own benefit. Agreed, and maximizing your benefit is important, I think that you know too many people don't maybe consider Social Security as part of their retirement income plan, but it absolutely should be. I think while the future of Social Security is a big concern for a lot of people, mostly it just needs to be considered part of that retirement income plan and something that we can all plan around, right? That's exactly right. Thank you so much, Brian. That's really good insight. And I think that if you're concerned about the future of Social Security and how that could impact your retirement income plan, we're here to help.
