Episode Synopsis

When you think of Eden, you probably don’t often think of Yoga. On this episode Tyler interviews Bobby Karle, S.J. (one month away from his priestly ordination as a Jesuit!), who shares his experience of slowing down, feeling whole, and connecting with God through careful Yoga practice.Bobby started practicing Yoga the year before he entered the Jesuits while working as the Campus Minister at his alma mater, UofD Jesuit in Detroit. Throughout his formation Bobby has continued to thoughtfully approach the integration of Ignatian spirituality and Yoga practice. While maintaining his studies and other ministry placements in Jesuit formation, Bobby played an instrumental role in founding Ignatian Yoga, which led Yoga retreats across the country for more than four years.Bobby and Tyler discuss some ways to engage responsibly with the Yoga tradition while incorporating the teachings and spirituality of St. Ignatius. Bobby also discusses his thoughts on how he has recently reflected on the importance of approaching this South Asian tradition with reverence and respect. Whether you consider yourself a regular Yogi or have never tried Yoga, check out this thoughtful and joyful interview. Keep Bobby and his fellow Jesuits in your prayers as he and 24 others will be ordained on June 12th across the US. LINKSIgnatian YogaIgnatian Yoga Youtube Embrace Yoga's Roots - Susanna BarkatakiShanti Within - Anusha Wijeyajumar Yoga is Dead PodcastOff The Mat, Into The WorldGet in touch with Bobby: [email protected] to give us feedback?
