Since then, the city has been considered one of the epicenters of the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. To identify the early transmission events underlying the rapid spread of the virus in the NYC metropolitan area, a team from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai sequenced SARS-CoV-2 strains from 84 patients seeking care within their health care system.
