Listen "(LISTEN): State Sen. Curtis Trent (R-Springfield) discusses hazing legislation and jury pay on "Wake Up Missouri""
Episode Synopsis
The family of former Mizzou student Danny Santulli says he is unable to walk, talk or see after a hazing incident in Columbia in October 2021. Santulli's family says Danny will need care for life due to a severe, permanent brain injury. State Sen. Curtis Trent (R-Springfield) has filed anti-hazing legislation again this year aimed at preventing an incident like this from happening again. Senator Trent's bill would prevent someone from being convicted of hazing if they’re the first to call 911 or campus security to report a need for medical assistance. Danny Santulli was forced to drink vodka to the point that he lost consciousness, before being thrown on a couch. Senator Trent joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Missouri", telling listeners that he is hopeful about the bill passing. Senator Trent also discussed his bipartisan bill to raise jury pay, saying that under current law, jurors essentially are volunteering their time:
