Listen "(AUDIO): Boone County clerk Brianna Lennon discusses voter turnout on "Wake Up Mid-Missouri""
Episode Synopsis
More than 27,000 Boone County registered voters had cast absentee ballots before polls opened this morning statewide at 6. That was already a 20 percent voter turnout in Boone County and includes the 1,900 voters who cast ballots Monday at the Roger Wilson Boone County Government Center. Boone County clerk Brianna Lennon joined us live on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri", telling listeners that she's sticking with her 75 percent voter turnout prediction, which means today's turnout will be about 50 to 55 percent. If you're voting today, you'll need to bring your photo ID with you. That can include a Missouri driver’s or non-driver’s license, a US passport or a military ID. If you don’t have one of these IDs, you can still cast a provisional ballot, which will be counted as long as the signature on your provisional envelope matches the signature on your voter registration record. There are also four central polling places today in Boone County: the Roger Wilson Government Center downtown, Mizzou’s Memorial Union, Friendship Baptist church on Smiley and Woodcrest Chapel on West Nifong. Clerk Lennon is thanking her staff for their dedication. They've hosted no-excuse absentee voting at the government center, at Columbia Mall, at Douglass high school and in Ashland and Centralia. We also addressed the lack of amenities at the Roger Wilson Government Center, especially water. 939 the Eagle's Brian Hauswirth told listeners about an elderly woman who appeared to need air and possibly water on Monday:
