soundcloud.com/subsetdubs returns with the Aperture EP, which blends live instrumentation with electronic and dub sensibilities.

The upbeat opener Duende Revisited, recorded live at the Brisbane Meanjin Reggae Festival, revolves around horns from an earlier tune, dropped atop a gnarly bass squelch. The moody I Am Earthbound is awash with richly effected layers of guitar and bass, while the dub-techno inspired Habitat is enlivened by melodica. The title track's shuffling dub groove perfectly leads in to the closing Solutions of Synthesis, a deep exploration of the origins of life.

As in photography, the Aperture EP is many-structured, filtering light and sound, and focussing to a point of many colours, moods and emotions.
