Drink a Little Lied with Me went to Sweden this summer!We had long dreamed of recording some of Carl Michael Bellman’s songs — and finally it happened! Carl Michael Bellman was an 18th-century poet, ballad singer, cittern player, and entertainer. He moved freely between royal society (including King Gustav III) and the taverns of Stockholm’s lower classes. He is best known for his Fredman’s Epistles and Fredman’s Songs (from which we are performing), where he portrayed life in 18th-century Stockholm with humor, depth, and remarkable musical sensitivity.This special episode was recorded in Sweden, hosted by the wonderful soprano Elisabeth Ekberg and her generous family. During our stay we experienced the landscapes, the summer weather, and even a bit of their family life.
