Listen "Word Games"
Episode Synopsis
Bible references: Luke 20:20-40 | Matt. 22:15-33 | Mark 12:13-27
Everyday Study Bible - Holman - KJV Commentary Contributor References: Charles Quarles-Ph.D. | Ross McLaren-D.Min. | A. Boyd Luter-Ph.D.
In this episode, I talk about new things I learned studying the accounts of the Pharisees, Herodians and Sadducees attempting to trick Jesus with word play. I provide some background on each group, their beliefs and their focus to help us piece out why they worded their riddles the way they did and how their presuppositions truncated their own plans. The biggest lesson out of this is in looking at how Jesus took a plain attack and still used it to reveal truth to those who persecuted Him.
