Are you thinking of getting a greyhound? In this episode of Dog Nerd Show, we meet Lucy, a retired racing greyhound who was rescued from Adopt a Greyhound Atlanta. The greyhound is one of the oldest and fastest dog breeds dating back thousands of years to ancient Egypt. They are sighthounds meaning that they use their vision to hunt versus their sense of smell. After hearing from Lucy's parents, Rea and Brian, about this elegant breed, it's clear that Lucy is one lucky dog because you can tell just how much love they have for her!We were surprised to learn that many in the greyhound rescue community are not against dog racing. We, however, have a bit of a different view. We don't believe that animals should be used for entertainment purposes and we highlight some of the reasons why brought to us by the rescue organization Grey 2K USA. We love that Rea and Brian researched dog breeds and waited 6 years to adopt Lucy, waiting until the time was right.
