Listen "20: 19 days. Isn't long for the new twitter"
Episode Synopsis
19 days. Isn't long.
That's how long it's been since Elon Musk bought Twitter.
Is it clear what the strategy is..... yet.....
Is strategy always clear from the get go... nop..
But it becomes clearer as it starts to be expected, but the right people, in the right way.
It's true there is vast upheaval at Twitter, but I don't think it's just Twitter that's in a considerable change mode.
I've been studying the "strategic" market research that's being carried out by Elon.
When a business needs to change its digital strategy, when it wants to retain its customers, it wants to introduce new revenue channels, what better than testing a few ideas (quickly), getting some user feedback and some unit economic data.
What we all know now is Twitter is planning to change how it makes money, monetising its members, and the members, the loyal ones are going to be happy to pay for services, and not just the blue tick.
Way back in the 2000's I remember attending a meeting with some senior people from Paypal, they were selling money services to the platform I work for.
Their product had layers of services.
They needed a distribution network to get things started.
Once they hooked in customers, they had them for life.
Twitter has 230m users....something is going to happen, it will be obvious when it does.
Paypal has 429m users....something did happen, it took time and testing.
If you think you need to change your digital strategy, then you probably do.
Doing is where the learning comes.
